Arbitration procedure

The Federal Government Commissioner for Matters relating to Persons with Disabilities operates an arbitration service pursuant to Section 16 of the Federal Disability Equality Act. The arbitration service is responsible for resolving disputes between persons with disabilities and public bodies of the German government.

You may ask the arbitration service to intervene if you are not satisfied with the response you receive from the contacts listed above. The point is not to determine a winner or a loser; instead, the arbitration service exists to help facilitate a joint, out-of-court solution to a problem.

The arbitration procedure is free of charge, and you do not need to appoint a solicitor.

Full information on the arbitration procedure can be found on the website of the arbitration service. It sets out how an arbitration procedure is conducted and how you can submit a request for arbitration. Requests can also be submitted in simple language or German sign language
