Dr. Adam Ceesay works as a Progamme Manager at Wetlands International Africa, West Coast and Gulf of Guinea (WIACO) Office in Dakar, Senegal. She is the Coordinator of the MAVA Foundation for Nature’s Outcome Action Plan Number 5 (OAP 5, PRISE), on Coastal Infrastructure in West Africa. She also serves as Strategy Lead for Partnership Development and Advocacy under the MAVA’s OAP6 (ResilienSEA) on the conservation of seagrass beds in West Africa. Most recently, she has also assumed the role of Ecoregion Lead for West Africa under DoB Ecology’s Mangrove Capital Africa (MCA) Programme.
Ceesay holds a Ph.D. in Climate Change and Biodiversity from the Felix Houphouet-Boigny University in Abidjan, having specialized in tropical mangrove ecosystems under the influence of climate and land use change. She also has a master's degree in Aquatic Science and Marine Resources Management from the National Taiwan Ocean University (Taiwan, ROC).
In her spare time, she motivates young Africans through mentoring and career counseling under the GREAT Institute (Gaining Research Experience in Africa for Tomorrow) in the Gambia.
