Christiana Sam is a fish biologist and works as a teaching assistant at the University of Bergen, Norway. She is an also an early career ocean professional (ECOP) with extensive research experience in the management of fishery systems. Her research interests include the management of small-scale fishery systems, fish stock assessment, fish nutrition and international policies focused on sustainable fisheries management. She was previously employed by the Institute of Marine Research, Norway, and worked with the EAF-Nansen Programme coordinated by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). Her research at the Institute contributed to the scientific advice provided to partner countries to facilitate the Ecosystem Approach to Fisheries Management.
Sam is passionate about science-informed policies and is currently exploring opportunities with organizations and NGOs to facilitate the implementation of policies in communities and regions.
