Farah Nibbs is an early career scientist and PhD candidate in the Disaster Science and Management Program at the Joseph Biden School of Public Policy and Administration at the University of Delaware.
Her research interests are focused on Small Island Developing States and include rainwater harvesting and resilient communities, coastal resilience, and critical community infrastructure.
As a University of Delaware doctoral fellow, Nibbs is currently conducting research on the integration of drone technology for road asset management for improved resilience of road assets in the OECS islands of the Caribbean.
She is a member of the Western Tropical Atlantic Safe Ocean Working Group, which operates within the framework of the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development.
She is also part of the ‘Caribbean Cyclone Cartography’ international research project aimed at creating a more inclusive understanding of cyclone preparation, response and recovery within the island of Dominica.
Nibbs is a research assistant at the Disaster Research Centre and is involved in the NSF-funded LEAP HI project, which is developing a novel computational modeling framework to improve understanding of US regional natural disaster risk and design.
