Dr. Lilian A. Krug is a Brazilian national, currently living and working in Portugal. She has a specialist interest in the application of satellite imagery for coastal and ocean studies and is dedicated to research and capacity development in observational oceanography.
Throughout college and grad school, Krug received the support of various national and international organizations to enhance her knowledge, including studentships and grants to attend training and scientific meetings. In her current roles as Scientific Coordinator for the Partnership for Observation of the Global Ocean (POGO), and coordinator of the NF-POGO Alumni Network for the Ocean (NANO), she is proud to be helping to provide similar opportunities for other scholars and early career ocean professionals (ECOPs), particularly from developing nations.
In addition, Krug is a research collaborator at the Centre for Marine and Environmental Research (University of Algarve, Portugal) and teams up with other organizations to deliver short trainings in online resources for ocean studies to international graduate students in both Portuguese and English.
