Dr. Simone Pennafirme is a postdoctoral researcher at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro in the Laboratory of Environmental Analysis and Computational Simulation. Since 2021, she has managed the Marine Life Center at the Secretariat for Environment of the City Hall of Rio de Janeiro. This Center was created on World Ocean Day to improve the binomial science-public policy regarding the ocean in Rio de Janeiro’s City Hall Agenda. Since then, it has catalyzed the meeting of several stakeholders to discuss local and global ocean issues and to promote and develop public policies to achieve the SDGs, especially SDGs 13 and 14, and the Challenges and Results of the Ocean Decade.
